Original title: suspected hammerhead hammerhead shark breeding ground found in waters of Galapagos Islands

In a statement on May 2 local time in Ecuador's Galapagos National Park, a research team found an area near an island in the Galapagos Islands that may be used for the breeding of hammerhead hammerhead hammerhead sharks. If confirmed, this will be a "very rare" discovery.

The hammerhead hammerhead shark is a fish of the genus hammerhead shark of the hammerhead shark family. It has a long and flat body, a specially expanded head, and a broad hammerhead. It is a vulnerable species in the Red List of Endangered Species of the World Conservation Union.

According to Reuters, a team of researchers observed several baby hammerhead hammerhead hammerhead hammerhead sharks in a small bay on Isabella Island, the largest island of the Galapagos Islands, a few weeks ago. After many observations and records of these young sharks, the researchers believe that this cove may be a breeding area for hammerhead hammerhead sharks.

The researchers also marked a sub adult female hammerhead hammerhead shark for the first time and will continue to monitor its range of motion.

According to the Galapagos Science Center, the Galapagos Islands is famous for the gathering of adult hammerhead sharks, while hammerhead sharks are rarely observed, and researchers have never tracked the activities of such sharks in the local area before.

Alex Hearn, the leader of the above scientific research project and a professor of biology at the University of San Francisco in Quito, said: "This is an amazing discovery. Not only is this species rarely reported here, but also we have found many young sharks in this bay, which indicates that this may be a breeding ground for young sharks."

The Galapagos Islands is located in the eastern Pacific Ocean, more than 1000 kilometers away from Ecuador. It is a world natural heritage. Its diverse climate and special natural environment of volcanic landforms make it particularly rich in animal and plant species. Darwin visited the Galapagos Islands in 1835, and the results of his expedition prompted him to put forward the famous theory of biological evolution later.
