With Yang Kuo, a student of Beijing Sport University, making a forceful speech at the flag awarding ceremony of Jishishan County Ethnic Middle School in Linxia Prefecture, Gansu Province on April 24, the voluntary service for sports support education of the General Administration of Sport of China in 2024 was fully launched.

Volunteer service for sports support education is an important measure for the General Administration to thoroughly implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on building a sports power and strengthening youth sports work. Led by the Youth Department of the General Administration, it is jointly promoted by some sports administrative departments and universities in the central and western and northeast regions. By building a grassroots practice platform, we will guide college volunteers to go deep into primary and secondary schools at the grassroots level, organize outstanding retired athletes and social sports organizations to enter the campus, and help solve the problem of insufficient physical education teachers at the grassroots level.

According to the relevant person in charge of the Youth and Children's Department of the General Administration, this year's volunteer service for sports support will focus on sports teaching and training, sports star campus trip, sports teacher training, sports events, sports ideological and political education, scientific fitness popularization and sports materials donation, and will continue to be implemented in Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Jilin, Jiangxi, Hubei, Sichuan, Guizhou, Shaanxi 9 provinces (autonomous regions) in Gansu. About 1000 graduate students and excellent undergraduate students of sports major were selected from 35 sports colleges and universities and ordinary colleges and universities offering sports majors as volunteers to carry out sports teaching in more than 400 primary and secondary schools.
