Since June 11, the precipitation in Guizhou has remained relatively low, and the drought has gradually developed. Drought monitoring by Guizhou Meteorological Observatory showed that as of August 28, 78 counties (cities and districts) in the province had experienced varying degrees of meteorological drought, including 29 counties suffering from severe drought and 9 counties suffering from extreme drought.

According to the Chinese government website, up to now, nearly 1.1 million people across the province have difficulty drinking water due to drought, and 1.03 million people need living assistance. According to Xinhuanet, the Emergency Response Office of Guizhou Provincial People's Government learned on July 26 that as of July 25, the disaster area of crops in Guizhou was 541200 hectares, the disaster area was 298500 hectares, and the revenue was 87900 hectares.

In response, the Guizhou Provincial Meteorological Station issued the first orange drought warning of this year on the 23rd, and launched the drought IV emergency response on the 25th. The Department of Civil Affairs of Guizhou Province also upgraded the provincial emergency response to natural disasters to Level III on the 25th, and issued the Emergency Notice on Practicing the Current Drought Relief Work.

On the 28th, the provincial meteorological station continued to issue an orange drought warning signal. It is expected that in the coming week, most parts of Guizhou will remain sunny, hot and rainy, and drought prevention and disaster reduction cannot be relaxed.
