On March 3, the demonstration meeting on the implementation scheme of the key special project "Research and Development of Emerging Food Nutrition and Quality Safety Reference Materials" of the national key research and development program "Research and Development of Basic Scientific Research Conditions and Major Scientific Instruments and Equipment" led by the Chinese Academy of Metrology (hereinafter referred to as "the Chinese Academy of Metrology") was held in Hepingli District of the Chinese Academy of Metrology.

More than 40 leaders from the China Agenda 21 Management Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Department of Science and Finance of the General Administration of Market Supervision, Xu Yingying, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the China Institute of Metrology, and heads of relevant departments, project and project leaders, and representatives of various undertaking units attended the meeting. Six experts in the project field, including Ren Fazheng, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Zhang Xinrong, professor of Tsinghua University, and two responsible experts, including Chen Ming, professor of Xiamen University, attended the meeting for guidance. The meeting will be held online and offline.

At the meeting, Xu Yingying, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the China Institute of Metrology, welcomed and thanked the leaders and experts attending the meeting, and put forward requirements for the project from the aspects of focusing on demand traction and strengthening the top-level design of reference materials. The leaders of the Department of Finance of the Market Supervision Administration put forward suggestions on the implementation and management of the project.

Li Xiuqin, the project leader and researcher of China Institute of Metrology, reported the overall situation of the project, project implementation plan and expected results. The project leaders from Zhejiang University, China Agricultural University, China Institute of Metrology, Science Research Institute of the State Food and Materials Reserve Bureau, China Institute of Inspection and Quarantine and other units reported the implementation plan and expected results of the project respectively.

After listening to the report of the project and project implementation plan, the members of the expert group of the demonstration meeting fully affirmed and highly recognized the overall implementation plan of the project, and put forward constructive suggestions for the project and project implementation from the aspects of technology, application, etc. Academician Ren Fazheng specially pointed out that the development of new nutritional ingredients reference materials is of great significance to the scientific research and industrial development related to precision nutrition, and the completion of the project will help to establish the relevant standard system in the field of nutrition in China.

According to Li Xiuqin, the project leader, as a special scientific research reagent to ensure accurate measurement and mutual recognition of results, reference materials are "rulers" and "weights" for measurement method development, calibration and quality control. At present, the food field is in a critical period of shifting from ensuring supply to placing equal emphasis on nutrition and safety. The detection and monitoring of emerging nutrients, new food raw materials and emerging pollutants have put forward new demands for reference materials. The key technologies related to the development of reference materials, such as separation, characterization, preparation and calibration, face enormous challenges.

Based on this project, the Chinese Academy of Metrology, together with nine domestic advantageous units, has developed new food nutrition and quality safety reference materials and formulated relevant specifications and standards by carrying out a series of key technology research on the separation and purification of emerging nutrients and fine structure characterization, nutritional efficacy evaluation, accurate identification, and preparation and valuation of multi characteristic quantity reference materials, Realize international mutual recognition and application. The implementation of this project will fill the gap of reference materials in the emerging food nutrition and quality safety field, and support the measurement technology research and product research and development in the emerging food field.
