This activity of Mei Lanfang Art and Culture Week on both sides of the Taiwan Straits was hosted by the Taiwan Affairs Office of Jiangsu Province, the Communist Youth League Jiangsu Provincial Committee, and the People's Government of Taizhou City, and co organized by the Publicity Department of the Taizhou Municipal Party Committee, the Taiwan Affairs Office of Taizhou City, the Communist Youth League Taizhou Municipal Committee, the Taizhou Municipal Party Committee of the Revolutionary Movement, the Taizhou Culture and Tourism Group, Mei Lanfang Memorial Hall, Taiwan University of Chinese Culture, Taiwan Opera Academy, and Taiwan Jiangsu Association of Fellows. The theme of the activity is "Plum Charm for Thousands of Years, Flowing Fragrance across the Taiwan Straits". The purpose of the activity is to show Taizhou's cultural charm and development achievements, enhance cultural ties between compatriots on both sides of the Straits, and promote cultural exchanges and mutual learning between compatriots on both sides of the Straits.
This activity of Mei Lanfang Art and Culture Week on both sides of the Taiwan Straits will focus on Taizhou Meipai Peking Opera, Banqiao Calligraphy and Painting, religion, salt tax and other local characteristics and outstanding Chinese culture, highlighting the innovative development of Chinese culture on both sides of the Straits and the vivid practice of inheritance. This cultural week will be kicked off by a grand opening ceremony with a prominent theme. During the event, Beijing Opera artists, ticket fans and young students from both sides of the Taiwan Straits will also be invited to jointly perform the Mei School classics and learn the Mei School art, organize the Beijing Opera masters from both sides of the Taiwan Straits to go to schools to teach young people the art of Beijing Opera, and hold an exhibition of calligraphy and painting works of young people from both sides of the Taiwan Straits, Carry out rich activities such as cross-strait youth culture experience camp. It is estimated that more than 1000 guests from both sides of the Taiwan Straits will participate in various activities.
Taizhou is the hometown of Mr. Mei Lanfang, the master of Peking Opera. Mr. Mei Lanfang has been on the stage for more than 50 years in his life. He has integrated creative ideas in many artistic fields into the Peking Opera art stage performance, forming a unique "Mei School" art in the treasure house of traditional Chinese culture, and becoming a common cultural heritage and spiritual bond for compatriots across the Taiwan Straits. The art of Peking Opera in Thailand and Taiwan has a profound origin and close contacts. Wei Haimin, a descendant of the Mei School in Taiwan and Peking Opera performing artist, has come to Taizhou for exchanges for many times, participated in the Mei Lanfang Art Festival, and held the "Nine Songs by the Plum" - the Taizhou concert of Wei Haimin's Mei School music collection, which has become a vivid portrayal of the inheritance of Mei School art on both sides of the Taiwan Straits. In recent years, Taizhou, relying on cultural resources and characteristic carriers such as Mei Lanfang Memorial Hall, has continuously held three online exchanges of cross-strait Peking Opera "Mei Xiang Cross Strait · Beijing Charm", with participants of all ages, including old, middle, young and young people, both well-known artists and amateurs, demonstrating the artistic charm of the "Mei School" art advancing with the times, It has been widely praised by compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Straits and reported by the People's Daily (overseas edition), learning power and other mainstream media.
