Laba porridge, also known as "Seven Treasures and Five Flavors porridge", "Buddha porridge", "Everyone's meal", etc., is a kind of porridge made from a variety of ingredients. The earliest written record of Laba porridge is in the Song Dynasty. Wu Zimu of the Southern Song Dynasty recorded in the Record of Dreams: "On the eighth day of this month, the temple is called Laba. The temples such as Dasha have five flavors of porridge, called Laba porridge." China has a history of eating Laba porridge for more than a thousand years. Every Laba Festival, whether it is the imperial government, the temple or the people's families, they must make Laba porridge. In the Qing Dynasty, the custom of drinking Laba porridge was even more popular.
