Japan protested that South Korean marine survey ships sailed into disputed waters for many times

2019-02-21 07:15:53 Xinhua

The Japanese government said on the 19th that a South Korean marine survey ship had repeatedly sailed into the waters near Takeshima, which Japan called, and Dokdo, which South Korea called, without the permission of Japan. Japan has protested to South Korea through diplomatic channels.

   [Rise again]

Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Kan Yiwei said at a press conference on the 19th that the patrol ship of the Japan Maritime Security Agency confirmed that a South Korean marine survey ship was sailing in the territorial waters around Takeshima between the afternoon of the 15th and the afternoon of the 17th to the 18th respectively; The survey ship sailed out on the 18th and entered the South Korean side.

Kan said, "We strongly protest and have asked the ROK to explain through diplomatic channels. We cannot accept the investigation without the permission of the Japanese side."

According to the Japanese media, the survey ship belongs to the Korean National Academy of Fisheries Sciences. South Korea began to sample and analyze soil in the sea area near Takeshima several years ago, and the relevant budget came from the South Korean government.

Bamboo Island is located in the eastern waters of the Korean Peninsula, with an area of about 0.18 square kilometers. South Korea, North Korea and Japan all claim sovereignty over the island. South Korea actually controls the island and has stationed maritime police there since 1954, building lighthouses, docks, helipads and other facilities.

According to Japanese media analysis, the annual "Takeshima Day" commemoration will be held in Shimane Prefecture, located in western Japan, on the 22nd. The move of the South Korean side aims to show its actual control over the island.

The South Korean government has so far failed to respond to Japan's claim that the South Korean investigation ship sailed into the disputed waters.

  [No compromise]

Recently, the relationship between South Korea and Japan has been strained due to Japanese enterprises' forced conscription of South Korean labor claims, the "radar lock" dispute and the "comfort women" issue. Wen Xi, Speaker of the South Korean Parliament, said that "the apology of the Emperor of Japan can solve the" comfort women "issue", which made the relationship between the two countries worse.

In the face of continuous protests from the Japanese side, Wen Xixiang said again on the 18th that he would not withdraw his speech and apologize as required by the Japanese side. According to him, the party who should apologize does not apologize, but asks him to apologize, which is equivalent to "the thief shouts to catch the thief".

He criticized the Japanese government for studying countermeasures for the South Korean labor claim case "like a child's prank", which would only be "penny wise and pound foolish".

Japanese media speculate that Wen Xixiang's tough remarks may make Japan ROK relations tense for a long time.

A recent public opinion survey by the Sankei Shimbun of Japan shows that, with the deepening of the conflict between Japan and South Korea, Japanese trust in South Koreans has declined, and about two-thirds of Japanese believe that South Koreans are "untrustworthy".

This survey shows that 77.2% of Japanese do not trust Koreans, and only 13.9% of Japanese answer "trust"; In response to Wen Xi's claim that Emperor Akihito was the "son of war criminals" and "comfort women", 82.7% of Japanese believed that he should withdraw his statement.
