Cui Tiankai: China US relations should be viewed and handled from a new perspective in line with the historical trend of the 21st century

People's Daily, New York, November 17 (Reporter Zhang Niansheng and Yin Miao) Cui Tiankai, Chinese Ambassador to the United States, said on the 15th that in the development process of China and the United States, both sides are important partners of each other. We should view and handle China US relations from a new perspective consistent with the historical trend of the 21st century, and achieve more stable and solid development of China US relations through effective coordination and cooperation.

Ambassador Cui Tiankai made the above remarks in his speech at the 2018 annual dinner of the National Committee on US China Relations in New York on the same day. Ambassador Cui said that this year marks the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening up, as well as the 40th anniversary of the publication of the communique on the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States. Over the past 40 years, thanks to the joint efforts of both sides, China US relations have always maintained overall stability and continued to make historic progress. China is firmly committed to the path of peaceful development. This basic national policy has never changed and will never change. China has always taken meeting the people's aspirations for a better life as its goal, and has actively worked with other countries, including the United States, to build a community of shared future for mankind.

Ambassador Cui pointed out that in the development process of China and the United States, both sides are important partners, which is an undeniable fact. We should view and handle China US relations from a new perspective consistent with the historical trend of the 21st century, so as to achieve non conflict, non confrontation, mutual respect and win-win cooperation; Through effective coordination and cooperation, we will achieve more stable and solid development of China US relations.

Ambassador Cui thanked the National Committee on U.S. - China Relations and other friendly groups, as well as former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger of the United States, Chairman Greenberg of Strap Group and other friendly people for their positive contributions to the development of China US relations. He hoped that people from all walks of life in the two countries would continue to care about and support China US relations and work together to benefit the two countries and their people.

More than 400 people from the political, business and academic circles of China and the United States attended the dinner, including Huang Ping, the new Chinese Consul General in New York, Kissinger, the former Secretary of State of the United States, Admiral Davidson, the commander of the US Indo Pacific Command, Stone, the deputy deputy assistant secretary of the East Asia Bureau of the US State Department, Sears, chairman of the National Committee on US China Relations, and Orens, chairman of the National Committee on US China Relations.
