People's Daily, Meixi, November 16 (reporter Deng Wei) On the afternoon of November 16 local time, a black window was opened in the front column of the home page of the Overseas Chinese News, with only two large characters "obituary" inside. It is reported that Xie Yining, Chairman of Overseas Chinese News, was killed in the headquarters office in Alhambra, San Gabriel Valley, Los Angeles that morning.

The obituary said: "Mr. Xie Yining, chairman of the American Overseas Chinese News and president of the American Metrology Culture Media Group, was killed in the Los Angeles headquarters office on the morning of November 16, 2018. He was 58 years old."

Steven Carr, spokesman of the Alhambra Police Department, said that at about 9:28 a.m. local time on November 16, the police received a call to the Overseas Chinese News Building in Alhambra City to deal with a shooting case. The local police found that an Asian man was shot several times and died of serious injuries at the scene. The gunman stayed at the scene and was arrested without resistance. The murder weapon was found at the scene.

It was revealed that on the day of the shooting, the senior executives of the US "Overseas Chinese News" held an annual business meeting with the company's business department. At the meeting, the senior manager of Overseas Chinese News once proposed to the salesperson that the business volume of next year should be increased by 10% on the basis of this year.

It is understood that Xie Yining, originally from Chaozhou, was born in Guangdong in 1960, graduated from the Journalism Department of Renmin University of China in 1982, and joined the China News Agency as a reporter after graduation. Since 1984, he has participated in the interview of the Olympic Games, the Asian Games and other major events for many times. From 1984 to 1987, he entered Shanghai International Studies University to study international journalism. In 1987, he was assigned to the White House as a reporter of China News Agency. In 1988, he was awarded honorary vice governor of Oklahoma and honorary mayor of Oklahoma City. In 1991, he served as the chief reporter of the American Overseas Chinese News. Since 1992, he has been the president of the American and Western editions of Overseas Chinese News, and has been the chairman of Overseas Chinese News since then.
