The 12th issue of New Era Logistics Salon: "Detecting and Remedying Modern Slavery in Supply Chains: Insights from Secondary Data Analysis and Action Research Projects" was successfully held

On September 14, 2018, Mark Stevenson, Deputy Editor in Chief of International Journal of Operations&Production Management and Professor of School of Management of Lancaster University, UK, was invited to the 12th New Era Logistics Salon of our college, with the theme of "Detecting and Remedying Modern Logistics in Supply Chains: Insights from Secondary Data Analysis and Action Research Projects" The theme tells about the problem of modern slavery in the supply chain, and introduces a series of laws and regulations on modern slavery in Britain. The salon was hosted by Professor Lan Hongjie and attended by some teachers and students of the School of Economics and Management.


At the beginning of the lecture, Professor Lan Hongjie expressed his welcome to Professor Mark Stevenson and briefly introduced the contents of the lecture. Professor Mark Stevenson first introduced that modern slavery is a major contemporary global problem; It focused on the introduction of a series of laws and regulations in many countries, including the United Kingdom, which forced organizations to improve the transparency of their entire supply chain; Expounding how the organization can reasonably regulate the supply chain, discover and correct the problem of modern slavery in the supply chain; It is suggested that in the future, it can be compared with other industries and other countries to further explore the sub supply chain. The lecture ended with warm applause.
Mark Stevenson, International Deputy Dean of School of Management, Lancaster University, and Professor of Operation Management, Department of Management Science. His research interests include supply chain elasticity, social sustainable supply chain management, supply chain flexibility and uncertainty, and production planning and control in a multi category manufacturing environment. Professor Mark Stevenson is the deputy editor of the famous International Journal of Operations&Production Management (IJOPM) and a member of the European Operation Management Association (EUROMA). Professor Mark Stevenson has published many high-level peer-reviewed academic papers, including high-level journals such as Production&Operations Management (POM), the Journal of Business Ethics (JBE), IJOPM, and the European Journal of Operations Research (EJOR).
