On the morning of September 20, at the second meeting of the Fourth People's Congress of Pu'er City, Yunnan Province, Liu Yong was elected mayor of Pu'er City People's Government.
Yang Weidong, Director of the Standing Committee of Pu'er Municipal People's Congress, issued Liu Yong with the certificate of election. Liu Yong swore the Constitution.
Liu Yong said in his statement that in his new post, he will strive to: first, maintain the core and keep the direction. We will firmly maintain General Secretary Xi Jinping's core position in the Party Central Committee and the whole Party, firmly uphold the authority of the Party Central Committee and centralized and unified leadership, firmly establish the "four consciousness", firmly adhere to the "four self-confidence", always maintain a high degree of consistency with the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core in ideology, politics and action, and strictly implement the major decisions and deployment requirements of the Municipal Party Committee, Actively promote the development of various undertakings in Pu'er. The second is to act responsibly. Focusing on the development orientation of "an ecological livable city, a place for health preservation, and the source of Pu'er tea culture", we will focus on creating world-class "three cards". The third is to put people first and govern for the people. Firmly establish the people centered development concept, focus on winning the "three major battles", always focus on education, medical care, culture, employment, social security, old-age care and other key areas, resolutely do a good job in people's livelihood, make full efforts to complement the shortcomings of people's livelihood, and continue to enhance the sense of gain, security and happiness of the people of all ethnic groups in the city. The fourth is to work in accordance with the law, be honest and self disciplined. We will resolutely implement the new requirement of comprehensively governing the Party with strict discipline, promote the new practice of comprehensively governing the country according to law, take the lead in fulfilling the main responsibility of building a clean and honest government, adhere to the principle of administration according to law, resolutely act in accordance with regulations, and strive to build a government that is satisfactory to the people.

Liu Yong, male, Naxi nationality, born in December 1967, is an on-the-job doctor and a member of the Communist Party of China. He started working in July 1989. He has successively served as Deputy Manager and General Manager of Yunnan Construction Engineering Concrete Co., Ltd., General Manager Assistant of Yunnan Construction Engineering Group Corporation, General Manager of Concrete Co., Ltd., Deputy General Manager of Yunnan Construction Engineering Group Corporation, Deputy General Manager, General Manager and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Yunnan Construction Engineering Group Corporation, President, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial Investment Holding Group Corporation.
