Xi Jinping Sends a Message of Condolences to Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, on the Death of Vietnamese President Chen Daguang

Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, September 21 Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and President of the People's Republic of China, sent a message of condolences to Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, on behalf of the Chinese Party, the government, the people and in his own name, to express the deepest condolences to the death of Vietnamese President Chen Daguang and to his family members. The full text is as follows:

I am surprised to learn that the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Comrade Chen Daguang, has passed away. On behalf of the Communist Party of China, the government and the people, and in my own name, I would like to express my deepest condolences to you and through you to the Communist Party, the government and the people of Vietnam, and to Comrade Chen Daguang for his death. We are deeply saddened by his death.

Comrade Chen Daguang is an outstanding leader of the Vietnamese Party and country, and has made important contributions to the development, reform and opening up of Vietnam. As a close comrade and friend of the Chinese people, Comrade Chen Daguang is committed to inheriting and carrying forward the traditional friendship between China and Vietnam, and actively promoting the development of the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.

I believe that under the strong leadership of the General Secretary, the Vietnamese Party, government and people will turn grief into strength and continue to make new achievements in the cause of socialist construction.

Please convey my deepest condolences to the family of Comrade Chen Daguang.
