From 01:00 to 07:00 on April 18, due to the joint influence of the high trough and the shear line, a severe convective weather process of 8-11 thunderstorm gale and short-term heavy rainfall occurred in most parts of Nanning, Guangxi. The maximum gust in the process occurred in Xuxiake Park, Mingliang Town, Shanglin (site of Shanglin National Weather Station) at 30.3m/s (level 11), breaking the historical extreme value of the station.

Moderate to heavy rain and local rainstorm occurred in Nanning. The maximum rainfall is 71.7 mm in Luowei Town, Wuming District. According to the data of Guangxi 3D Lightning Monitoring Network, from 08:00 on April 17 to 08:00 on April 18, 2024, there were 126479 lightning flashes in Guangxi (54734 cloud flashes and 71745 cloud ground flashes), including 20241 lightning flashes in Nanning. Most of Guangxi has lightning.

It is expected that in the next three days, there will be more strong rainfall and severe convection weather in Guangxi. The Guangxi Meteorological Observatory predicted that from day to night on April 18, there will be severe convective weather in eastern Guangxi, such as moderate rain, local heavy rain to rainstorm, accompanied by short-time thunderstorms and gales, and scattered showers or thunderstorms in western Guangxi on cloudy to cloudy days.

From day to night on the 19th, there were severe convective weather such as moderate rain, local heavy rain to rainstorm and short thunderstorm gale in northern and eastern Guangxi, and showers or thunderstorms on cloudy to cloudy days in other regions. The highest temperature in Zuojiang River valley is 35~39 ℃, and that in other regions is 23~34 ℃.

From the evening of the 19th to the day of the 20th, there were moderate to heavy rain, local rainstorm to heavy rainstorm in northern Guangxi, accompanied by short-term thunderstorms, gales, hail and other severe convective weather, and cloudy to cloudy days in southern Guangxi, with scattered showers or thunderstorms, local heavy rain.
