Wang Chongchong, who will turn 29 in April this year, is a courier in the Guang'anmenwai Street Area, Xicheng District, Beijing. Whether it's windy or rainy, Wang Chongchong rides an electric tricycle every day between the communities and office buildings near the area, taking tens of thousands of steps to complete the delivery of more than 200 express orders. "I like this job as a courier very much. Although I am tired, I am happy and satisfied every day," said Wang Chongchong.
It is understood that Wang Chongchong's hometown is Hua County, Anyang City, Henan Province. Before coming to Beijing as a courier, he worked as a waiter in his hometown's restaurant. In order to earn more money, Wang Chongchong left his hometown and began to drift north in 2014, hoping to bring his family a richer life through his own efforts.
At 6:00 a.m. on February 16, Wang Chongchong got up before dawn. According to Wang Chongchong, the first thing he did in the morning was to prepare dry food for the day. "Prepare simple meals by yourself, which is not only clean and cheap, but also saves more time for delivery."
Before 7:30, Wang Chongchong had arrived at the business point, and he would arrange the express mail in his area in advance according to his route. This can not only ensure that the express will be delivered to the customer at the first time, but also avoid delaying the delivery time by going back.
When he first came to Beijing to deliver express delivery, Wang Chongchong was still a "road nut". "Sometimes he lost his way when he went out, not to mention finding a way to send express mail." In order to get familiar with the surrounding environment, Wang Chongchong followed his master and compared the streets while walking, carefully studied the area, and rode three wheels through the streets every day. His efforts paid off. In less than two months, he had mastered all the road names, office buildings and residential areas near Guang'an Gate.
"Today, the first car pulled about 70 packages, and I had to call quickly to confirm whether the recipient was at home." Wang Chongchong, who has worked in this area for nearly five years, summed up some experience in the fast-paced work, "the first car package must be delivered quickly, and there will be another delivery car arriving at 3:00 in the afternoon. If it is delivered quickly, more can be delivered on this day."
"Shunfeng Express, your express has arrived. Is there anyone at home?" Wang Chongchong calls more than 200 times every day. Although it is hard, he is gratified that every time he delivers the express to the customer, he always gets warm words like "thank you" and "hard work".
After a busy day, Wang Chongchong didn't deliver the last package of the day safely until 8:00 pm. The considerate customer handed him a bag of peanuts, which made Wang Chongchong feel warm in his heart.
There are many couriers like Wang Chongchong who are busy day after day in major cities of China. The service industry is not only the "ballast" of steady and rapid economic growth, but also the "fresh force" of stable employment. In 2018, the added value of China's service industry accounted for 52.2% of GDP.
