Ford pushed BLIS cross traffic warning system to identify objects in the driver's blind area and improve safety

According to foreign media reports, driving in crowded traffic will cause great pressure on drivers. Even if the driver is staring at the rearview mirror all the time, it is easy to fail to notice the vehicle entering the driver's blind spot. A short period of inattention will quickly worsen the situation.

In fact, bad driving behavior is a global problem. Every year, many people die from traffic accidents caused by this reason. Some experts predict that as many as 33% of crashes are caused by drivers not following the correct lane rules. Therefore, Ford introduced the BLIS (R) cross traffic alarm function to solve this problem.

BLIS (blind spot information) cross traffic alarm system is a part of the new CoPilot 360 driving assistance function launched by Ford, which is a standard feature of almost every Ford model. This function uses the radar to monitor the driver's blind area when driving and when reversing out of the parking lot or lane, and will provide an alarm to remind the driver of dangers that are not seen or noticed.

BLIS uses two radar sensors installed on the rear wheel of the car to monitor the driver's blind spot. Once a vehicle is detected in any blind area, the driver will be reminded by turning on the indicator light of the rear-view mirror. When the vehicle is in the driving state, the system will run automatically, so the driver does not need to set it manually.

The cross traffic alarm system uses the same sensors to monitor approaching vehicles as they slowly reverse out of the parking space or onto the road. If the function detects that a car or bicycle is approaching from either side of the vehicle, the side mirror indicator light will light up and various tones will sound to warn the driver. In addition, a warning will pop up in the message center to tell the driver that a car is approaching from the left or rear. Similarly, when the vehicle is in reverse mode, the system can also run automatically, and the driver does not have to set it manually.
