Russian satellite news agency reported on November 17 that the Argentine navy announced on Twitter that Ocean Infinity had been able to locate the Argentine submarine "San Juan" that disappeared in 2017. The news said: "The Argentine Ministry of Defense and the Navy announced that after surveying Point 24, which was discovered by Ocean Infinity with the help of remote control equipment, they determined the position of the submarine 'San Juan', with a depth of 800 meters."
On November 15, 2017, the "San Juan" lost contact when she went from the Ushuaia Naval Base to Mar del Plata, and the submarine said that an accident had occurred at the last contact. There were 44 people on the submarine, including the first female diver in Argentine history, Eliana Krafcik. Navy sources said there was an explosion, which may be related to the disappearance of the San Juan. Fifteen days after the submarine disappeared, the Argentine navy announced that the search and rescue of 44 "San Juan" crew members had stopped, but the search for the submarine would continue.
Gabriel Atticben, commander of the Argentine naval base, told the sailors' relatives in the port of Mar del Plata that the submarine "San Juan", which disappeared in November 2017, had been deformed and had explosive traces when it was found.
The Inter American News Agency quoted Attis as saying that the submarine's protective shell was completely deformed, possibly due to internal explosion. Although it is deformed, it is not scattered on some protective shells, and no visible holes are found on them. Attis said that some screws buried in the sea floor were found, while some small pieces were scattered at places with a diameter of 70 meters.
