Purpose: Beijing Business Daily

Beijing Business Daily News On February 20, the reporter learned from the Haidian Court website that because the other party's selling fake Quanjude Roast Duck constituted a trademark infringement, Beijing Quanjude Fangshan Food Co., Ltd. sued Beijing Yutingbo Trade Center to the court, asking the defendant to stop the infringement, compensate 150000 yuan for economic losses, and reasonably spend 600 yuan. Recently, the Haidian Court accepted the case.

Quanjude said that Quanjude Fangshan Company is the only legal owner of the "Quanjude" service trademark. Quanjude Roast Duck is the leading commodity of Quanjude, and its trademark rights are protected by China's trademark law. Now, through the investigation of Quanjude Fangshan Company, it is found that Beijing Yutingbo Trade Center sold fake Quanjude Roast Duck in a supermarket in Haidian District, Beijing on March 6, 2017, which infringed the trademark right of Quanjude Fangshan Company to "Quanjude", causing adverse effects.

As the most popular "Beijing gift", Quanjude Roast Duck has been plagued by rampant counterfeits since its listing. Quanjude has also spared no expense in upgrading its anti-counterfeit packaging for many times. In 2015, Quanjude borrowed the anti-counterfeiting technology used by RMB for the first time and added many anti-counterfeiting means such as three-dimensional anti-counterfeiting. In 2016, the anti-counterfeiting upgrade was carried out again, with "unique and variable two-dimensional code" and "the third generation passive silicon free chip RFID electronic tag" printed on the outer packaging bag of each roast duck.

According to Wang Angang, the general manager of Quanjude Fangshan Food Company, the tourist attractions and various small stores are the hardest hit areas operating fake Quanjude vacuum roast duck. Some Xiaomenlian Quanjude Roast Ducks sell for as little as 38 yuan or 58 yuan each.

An industry perspective points out that Quanjude has now developed into a "business card of Beijing", and many tourists choose Quanjude Restaurant to eat while purchasing its related products. While upgrading anti-counterfeit labels and strengthening supervision, enterprises also need to strengthen publicity work in product identification and other aspects, and improve consumers' identification ability through various ways and channels.
