Introduction to Hangzhou

Hangzhou, with thousands of years of history, has nurtured a rich and splendid "Liangzhu Culture", "Wuyue Culture" and "Southern Song Culture". In 1936, a cultural site of the Neolithic Age was discovered in Liangzhu, a suburb of Hangzhou, which proved that human beings had multiplied here more than 4000 years ago. During Dayu's flood control, on his way to Kuaiji (today's Shaoxing), he landed here on Tonghang. Sailing is an ark, and "sailing" and "Hangzhou" are open to holiday, so the place name of "Yu Hang" came into being. Since then, Hangzhou has also got its name. Hangzhou has a history of more than 2000 years. In the Spring and Autumn Period (770-477 BC), it became the border of Wu and Yue, and was ruled by Wu and Yue successively. In the 25th year of the First Emperor of Qin Dynasty (222 BC), Qiantang County was established.
