The analysis report of the Top 500 list shows that in 2018, the total public welfare investment of China's top 500 philanthropic enterprises reached 27.562 billion yuan, accounting for 3.85 percent of the total revenue, maintaining a growth trend compared with 2017 (3.48 percent of 10000).

On November 6, the 2018 China Top 500 Corporate Philanthropy Forum and the Second China Corporate Philanthropy Forum were held in Beijing Convention Center. The forum was hosted by the Enterprise Observer, affiliated to the State owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, with the theme of "wealth and responsibility - enterprise value".

Wang Shaohua, Secretary General of the Forum Organizing Committee and Vice President of the Enterprise Observer, released the list and analysis report of 2018 China's top 500 corporate philanthropy. According to Wang Shaohua, the biggest feature of the 2018 China Top 500 list of corporate philanthropy is its full coverage. Regardless of the size of enterprises and whether enterprises apply, they are ranked fairly and fairly based on public data and enterprise application data.

The ranking data mainly comes from six aspects: first, the data released or provided by charitable organizations such as the China Charity Federation and research institutions such as the China Institute of Public Welfare of Beijing Normal University and Tsinghua University Institute of Public Welfare. The second is the operating income data of the top 500 Chinese enterprises in 2018 released by the China Enterprise Confederation and the China Entrepreneur Association. Third, the business income data of the top 500 private enterprises in China in 2018 released by the All China Federation of Industry and Commerce. Fourth, corporate philanthropy data released by news media. The fifth is charity data published by enterprises in social responsibility reports, annual reports, sustainable development reports, etc. or in other forms. Sixthly, the charity and public welfare data independently declared by enterprises include the amount converted from the total time invested by enterprise employees in volunteer activities (the amount converted from the time of volunteer activities is converted according to the local average daily wage), as well as the amount converted from the employment of persons with disabilities arranged in excess of the proportion (the amount converted from the number of persons with disabilities arranged in excess of the proportion is subject to the relevant national regulations).

The forum also released the list of 2018 China's philanthropic enterprises and 2018 China's top ten most respected enterprises. The criteria for the shortlist of Chinese philanthropic enterprises in 2018 are: the total amount of philanthropic investment of enterprises in 2017 is not less than one ten thousandth of the operating income of that year. The threshold for 2018 China's top ten most respected enterprises to be shortlisted is: the total amount of charity and public welfare investment in 2017 is more than 10 million yuan, accounting for more than 1% of the operating income of the year.

The analysis report of the list shows that the minimum threshold of 2018 China's top 500 philanthropic enterprises is 1.1 million yuan, and the number of enterprises with philanthropic investment of more than 1 billion yuan has reached 4, doubling compared with the previous year. The number of enterprises that have invested 10 million yuan - 100 million yuan (excluding 100 million yuan) in charity reached 229, exceeding the number of enterprises below 10 million yuan and becoming the largest group.

Deng Guosheng, vice president of the Institute of Public Welfare and Philanthropy of Tsinghua University, said: China's charity has changed from blood transfusion charity to hematopoietic charity. The enterprise should focus more on its poverty alleviation professionalism. The more professional it is, the better the effect of poverty alleviation charity will be, the better the social problems will be solved, and the greater the social influence will be. Corporate philanthropy and corporate donation are also a kind of investment, not just a simple process of giving, but an investment process, a process of establishing corporate social responsibility, improving corporate image, and expanding corporate social influence. Enterprises should mobilize more employees, mobilize more upstream and downstream industrial chains, and jointly do charity.

According to the organizing committee, the forum will be held once a year, and the list of China's top 500 philanthropic enterprises will be released. (Reporter Li Lei)
