The Minnan language musical Next Door In laws, starring Peng Cha cha and Xu Xiaoshun, Taiwan's comedians, was staged at Fuzhou Fujian Grand Theater on the evening of the 20th, opening the first tour in Fuzhou and Xiamen.
The musical "Next Door In laws" is adapted from the novel of the same name by Taiwan writer Liao Fengde. It is planned by the "Music Age Theater". The background is Taiwan in the 1950s and 1960s. It integrates Taiwan's local culture with Minnan language. In the past 10 years, it has toured 60 performances in Taiwan.
That night, the burden revealed by Minnan slang was full of fun, and the lively and funny performance of the two comedians was unique.
Peng Cha cha and Xu Xiaoshun respectively played a pair of brotherly friends in the Shuidiliao rural area of Yilan in Next Door's In laws. With the social evolution and different life experiences, they gradually became conflicted, while their sons and daughters were in a complex love affair.
"In the past 10 years, countless Taiwanese have seen this play, crying and laughing, and reached forgiveness and reconciliation of life." Peng Cha cha told reporters that his comment on this play is "forgiveness".
The play, based on the stories of Minnan people, went to Xiamen to perform in 2009 and was a great success. In March last year, the performance of the play in Shanghai also received a good response. Xu Xiaoshun said with a smile that he was worried that the Minnan language would not work in Shanghai. They had intended to change it to Mandarin, but because of the poor effect and time constraints, they still performed the original performance, which was also very popular.
"After all, both sides of the Taiwan Straits are of the same culture, and the places where people are moved to laugh and cry are interlinked," Peng Cha cha said.
Yang Zhongheng, the art director and screenwriter of Next Door in laws, has been committed to the localization of musical themes in recent years. His "Taiwan Musical Trilogy", including Next Door in laws, focuses on Minnan culture, "Taiwanese life", etc. "The collision of fresh local culture and western musicals is the development direction of cross-strait musicals."
Yang Zhongheng said that Taiwan is rich in talents. Because the market is small, the creation is not free to do it. In contrast, the mainland is rich in musical resources, more and more in line with international standards, and also welcomes Taiwan's talents and works. "Cross Strait cooperation is likely to be a direction in the development of Taiwan's musical." (End)
