Urban sewage treatment is one of the important market segments in China's sewage treatment industry. With the acceleration of China's urbanization process and The continuous deepening of "smart city" has provided a broad development space for China's urban sewage treatment market. According to the "13th Five Year Plan" National Urban Sewage Treatment and Recycling Facilities Construction Plan, by the end of 2020, the urban sewage treatment rate should reach 95%, the county sewage treatment rate should not be less than 85%, and Beijing Tianjin Hebei, Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta and other regions should achieve the goal one year ahead of schedule. The scale of sewage treatment facilities should be increased from 217.44 million cubic meters/day at the end of 2015 to 267.66 million cubic meters/day at the end of 2020, with an increase of 50.22 million cubic meters/day, a compound growth rate of 4.24%. The scale of sewage treatment facilities should be upgraded to 42.2 million cubic meters/day. It is expected that the "14th Five Year Plan" will further promote the upgrading and reconstruction. At present, water environment treatment technologies, except physical and chemical methods, belong to the category of biological methods. The biological process can be divided into activated sludge process and biofilm process. From the perspective of the development history of wastewater biological treatment, the biofilm method was born before the activated sludge method. Although the early biofilm method has the characteristics of high biomass, good purification effect and low energy consumption compared with the activated sludge method, its application in large-scale wastewater treatment projects is limited due to its low hydraulic load and organic load. Therefore, at present, domestic sewage treatment plants mostly adopt activated sludge process and its derivative processes, such as: A2O process, SBR process, oxidation ditch process, AO process, etc. In general, water treatment technology is constantly innovating. Some technologies have more advantages than the traditional activated sludge process in terms of effluent quality, investment cost, operation management, applicability, etc. In the future, there will be more application space in the aspects of standard upgrading and transformation, sewage regeneration and reuse.

 

Nevertheless, The improvement of sewage treatment equipment and the progress of sewage treatment technology also need to do a good job in management. The government departments should further improve the supervision and management ability of sewage treatment, actively organize and carry out professional skills training for sewage treatment personnel, focus on improving the management ability and business level of staff, improve the water inlet and outlet detection system, use modern information technology, and strengthen the real-time supervision ability.
