According to Automotive News, Mercedes Benz has confirmed that it will stop production of SLC two seat convertibles at the end of this year, and announced that the final version of the Final Edition will be unveiled at the Geneva Auto Show next month.

This SLC Final Edition will be the second appearance of the two seat convertible sports car nearly 23 years after its debut. At that time, the car was called SLK, which led the trend of a new folding hardtop structure, and later many automobile manufacturers followed suit.

SLC Final Edition will provide four gasoline engines to choose from: SLC 180 is equipped with a 1.6-liter four cylinder engine with 154 horsepower; The SLC 200 is equipped with a 181hp 2.0-liter four cylinder engine; The SLC 300 is equipped with a 242 horsepower 2.0 liter four cylinder engine; The AMG SLC 43 is equipped with a 383 horsepower 3.0 liter V6 engine. The SLC 180 and SLC 200 engine versions will be equipped with a six speed manual transmission, while the SLC 300 and SLC 43 versions will be equipped with a nine speed automatic transmission.

In addition to the standard black and gray, Mercedes Benz will provide special yellow paint for the car. This is the same color as the original SLK, marking the beginning and end of the car. The ultimate SLC is based on the existing AMG series models, but is equipped with unique bumpers, 18 inch five spoke alloy wheels, luxurious interior, and other functions. The new car is equipped with Aircard neck heater as standard.

The SLC AMG 43 final model is a rear drive model, which is said to be able to accelerate from zero to 100km/h in 4.7 seconds, and the maximum electronic speed limit can reach 250km/h. The combined (WLTP) combustion efficiency is 34.9 mpg, and the carbon dioxide emission is 185 g/km.

There are three generations of SLC convertible sports cars based on C-class in 23 years. The original R170 designated model was launched at the Paris Auto Show in 1996, followed by R171 at the Geneva Auto Show in 2004, and R172 was launched in 2011. This car was called SLK before the modification in 2016.

Mercedes Benz said that the total global sales of SLK and SLC exceeded 710000 vehicles.
