WordPress tag grouping plug-in: Tag Groups

WordPress comment four hundred and seventy-four Reading mode

WordPress tags can be displayed by category or letter grouping through plug-ins.

The plug-in has the following functions:

  • Label Cloud: A tag cloud where tags are classified into groups that appear in tags.
  • Accordion Tag Cloud: A tag cloud where tags are classified into vertically stacked groups.
  • Label list: Labels appear in columns, sorted by group.
  • Alphabet tag cloud: Labels are sorted alphabetically by the first letter under the label.
  • Alphabet label index: Labels appear in columns, sorted alphabetically.

All functions are Simplified code and Gutenberg block Choose the best one for you!

The tag cloud and list are used out of the box, but you can also customize them, attach or add some content to each tag, set the separator, set the link target, set the minimum and maximum font size, display the post count, and so on

Why your website will benefit from organizing your tags into groups

Most WordPress sites mix tags that should actually be separated by topic: location, people, characteristics, year, and so on.

However, if you organize tags into groups, your tags will become more useful. Imagine a tag cloud in which all places appear in the "Places" group, all names appear under "Names", and all years appear under "Years". The Tag Groups plug-in allows you to do this.

How to use tag groups

After activating the plug-in, you will be given an optional setup wizard

First, you create a group that will contain your tags. Then classify the labels into these groups. You can go back and modify the group or change the label at any time later. If you want to display labels sorted alphabetically, you don't even need any groups.

Filters and batch operations make it easier for you to use tags. You can even filter the post list in the backend by the group to which the tag belongs.

Not just labels

Label groups also apply to most other (flat) taxonomies, such as WooCommerce product labels.

The plug-in does not support hierarchical taxonomies such as categories.

Possible applications

  • Displays labels grouped by language or topic.
  • Create an alphabetical index of your tags - think of your tag's phone book.
  • Displays only the labels of the selected group in the tag cloud.
  • Select tags to display in different parts of the blog.
  • Change the sort order in the tag cloud.
  • Customize the link, text, font size, or separator of the label cloud project.
  • Each label is preceded or appended with a custom character or post count.
  • Insert a tag cloud in each post using only the tag of the post.
  • Easily manage a large number of tags or posts in the back end by grouping them.
  • Add the parent level to the label and layer it.
