The first stage pump station in the south trunk of Wanjiazhai Yellow River Diversion Project is located on the Pianguan River in Xiatuzhai, Pianguan County, Shanxi Province. The Pinglu Wanjiazhai Highway passes through the station site, 36 km away from Pinglu and 47 km away from Pianguan; It is 61.5km away from Shuozhou Railway Station of North Tongpu Railway and about 350km away from Taiyuan, the capital of Shanxi Province. The total installed capacity of Nangan first stage pump station is 6, and the first stage pump station is 3, with a single unit capacity of 6.45m3/s and a lift of 140m. The main buildings of the project include: ground type main and auxiliary powerhouse, Pianguan River aqueduct, substation, intake structure, waste water structure, outlet pressure adit, vertical shaft, outlet pool, upper adit and gate hoist installation, etc. The size of the main powerhouse is 84.9 × 20.0 × 32.9m (length × width × height).
