Prostate cyst may be congenital or acquired. Prostate cyst can be complicated with infectious calculus; Larger cysts can compress the urethra, causing dysuria, frequent urination, urgency, pain, and laborious urination. Small and asymptomatic cysts may not require treatment. Large cysts or symptomatic cysts, which are ineffective in drug treatment, can be treated by surgery. The approaches of surgical treatment include transvesical approach, extravesical approach, perineal approach and transrectal approach. Laparoscopic resection of prostatic cysts has the advantages of clear tissue exposure, short operation time, less trauma, no fistula, and less bleeding. It is the first choice for the treatment of prostatic cysts that protrude behind the urethra and bladder neck. For cysts near the urethra or protruding into the bladder, transurethral resection of the cyst is the best surgical approach, but for young patients, preserving the seminal caruncle is essential for normal ejaculation.
