Mencius' famous "Five Luns" refer to five kinds of interpersonal relationships: monarch and minister, father and son, brother, couple and friend. Mencius believed that: there is flesh and blood relationship between father and son, there is a way of etiquette and justice between monarchs and ministers, there is love between husband and wife, but there are differences between inside and outside, there is a hierarchy between the old and young, and there is a virtue of honesty between friends, which is the principle and code of conduct for dealing with interpersonal relations.
