Varicella and smallpox do not belong to the same disease. Chickenpox is caused by herpes virus and smallpox is caused by poxvirus, but both are caused by virus infection. Chickenpox is a childhood eruptive disease with high infectivity. It can be transmitted through contact and droplets, and may spread worldwide. The main clinical feature is that the skin mucosa has papules, macules, herpes and crusts successively or simultaneously. Long lasting immunity can be obtained after infection. Chickenpox is a self limited disease. When there is no complication, it is mainly symptomatic and general treatment, and most do not need to use corticosteroids. If necessary, use antiviral drugs as prescribed by your doctor.
