Changchun is the birthplace of the new Chinese film. The Changchun Film Festival, founded in 1992, is the first national film festival in China named after a city, which was approved by the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television. Over the past 20 years, more than 2000 films and more than 3000 filmmakers have left their marks in Changchun.
