Deciduous shrub, generally about lm high, or up to 2-3 m. The branches are purple brown and slender. The single leaf is opposite, the leaf is ovate to elliptic, 4~9cm long, with double serrated edges, and stipules are linear. The flower is single on the top of the new branch, white, with 4 petals and calyx. Drupe obovate, 7-8mm long, black, bright. It blooms in mid to late April, and its fruit is ripe from July to August
