The drugs for lowering blood pressure are mainly divided into the following five categories. The first type is calcium antagonists, also known as CCB drugs, and the common ones are amlodipine and nitrendipine flat controlled release tablets. The second type is angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors, the common ones are perindopril, benazepril, enalapril, fosinopril. The third type is angiotensin II receptor blockers, commonly used are losartan, valsartan and candesartan. The fourth type is beta receptor blockers, commonly used are metoprolol and bisoprolol. The fifth category is diuretics. Furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide and spironolactone are commonly used. Others are central antihypertensive drugs.
