Calcaneal periostitis is a stress injury around the calcaneal periosteum caused by repeated strain stimulation, which is characterized by local swelling, pain, hematoma organization, and limited activity. After this situation occurs, it is recommended to reduce activity first to avoid further load aggravating the injury. Local physical therapy, blood circulation and pain relief, and symptomatic treatment can be used. If there is obvious redness, swelling, heat, pain, and increased white blood cells, we can consider symptomatic treatment with antibiotics. After most of the conservative treatment, the symptoms can be gradually controlled. For a few patients, the inflammation can not be satisfactorily controlled by conservative treatment, and even subperiosteal abscess and bone necrosis can occur, we need to consider surgical treatment.
