At the end of last year, affected by the epidemic, the fifth "Top 10, Top 100 and Top 1000" Young Journalists Selection Competition in Hunan Province in 2022 was changed to online selection in Xiangtan District. Nearly 200 young journalists from more than 40 primary schools in Xiangtan City submitted videos of self introduction and talent performance online, as well as essays on corresponding topics to participate in the selection. In the end, the top 20 teams in Xiangtan reached the provincial finals. Before the competition, two contestants were unable to participate due to personal reasons, so a total of 18 contestants participated in the selection.

The final set up three links: self introduction plus talent display, on-site interview and on-site writing (for junior students, on-site dictation).

The competition scene was tense and intense, and the contestants all showed their unique skills. On the stage, everyone showed themselves to their heart's content, and the judges and audience were delighted by the wonderful self introduction and talent performance. Among them, the distinctive folk dance, erhu performance, patriotic theme recitation, and energetic hip-hop performances have won unanimous praise.

In the interview area, the contestants sat down and asked questions carefully, listened to the judges (the interviewees) and took notes of the interview. In the writing area and oral preparation area, each contestant actively writes for the competition. The draft paper of the second grade contestants was filled with oral keywords they sorted out, while the third grade and above contestants made efficient use of the 30 minute writing time to organize their interviews into words.

After more than two hours of competition, Wang Ziyi, a young reporter from Guizhu School in Xiangtan County, won the first place. According to the rules of the competition, the first place in this competition can be determined as the "Top Ten Small Reporters" of Hunan Province. In addition, due to the epidemic situation, some cities and prefectures did not organize this competition last year, so Chen Zhiyu, a young reporter from Tianyi Shuizhu School in Xiangtan County, the second ranked player, will also have the opportunity to compete with other cities and prefectures in the province for the remaining "Top Ten Young Journalists". Other small journalists participating in the competition will be awarded the title of "Top 100 Small Journalists" in Hunan Province.

"The children are very excellent. Watching them compete is like watching" Immortals fight ". It feels that everyone has superior strength." "This kind of competition is very helpful to stimulate the children's potential." "Thank the teachers of the Little Journalists Club for providing such a great display platform for the children." The judges and parents praised the holding of this competition and the performance of the players.
