Tencent ECS generates free snapshot process record

At present, Tencent Cloud Server provides free website snapshots, which is also a highlight of Tencent Cloud compared with domestic peers. After all, there are not many free things on cloud servers today, and they are also servers operated by real gold and silver. Compared with Alibaba Cloud's charging for snapshots since 2017, Tencent Cloud has done a good job in this differentiation. It happened that Weiaisi Blog had a station to redo the system, which was my first operation, so I put Tencent Cloud Snapshot Record the creation process, which is of reference significance for the future.

What is Tencent Cloud Snapshot? Snapshot is a data backup method provided by Tencent Cloud. It can be used to restore cloud disk data by making a fully available copy of the specified cloud disk and storing it in a space other than the cloud disk through redundant backup. Lao Wei's understanding of snapshots is the same as that of using ghost software to back up local computer systems.
Snapshots can be used not only for cloud disk backup, but also for rapid cloning to quickly deploy servers.

1. Enter the cloud disk service. There has been a new change in Tencent's cloud console recently. Many of the previous shortcut buttons have disappeared. Now if you want to find a project, you need to search for products by name/keyword. For example, the snapshot creation function is in the cloud disk service of ECS. Enter ECS in the console search bar and click Enter. Click the cloud disk service in the ECS to see the purchased cloud disk service. On the far right, you can click Create Snapshot.

2. Create a snapshot. After clicking "Create Snapshot" above, name the snapshot in the pop-up window. You can create multiple snapshots in the future to facilitate differentiation. Finally, click OK to create the snapshot.

3. List of snapshots. The snapshot being created can be found in "Snapshot" - "Snapshot List", and there is a percentage progress prompt in the process. Finally, I see the status: normal, is completed. Here you can delete, rename, and export the created snapshot.

What if you want to restore the snapshot? First stop your Tencent ECS, then go to the snapshot list, select the snapshot, click Rollback, and select the destination cloud disk. After a while, it succeeds.

At present, the snapshot service of cloud disk service is in the free internal test stage. Restrictions on use:
1. A maximum of 14 (number of cloud disks * 7) snapshots can be created under a single account.
2. During the internal test, the maximum snapshot capacity of each region is 20TB.

On the whole, this free Tencent cloud snapshot is quite practical. Old Wei is also using it. If you are interested, you can try it. After all, it takes several hours to build a system+configure various programs+build a website. With one or several snapshot backups, it will save time and effort in the future, and will not delay the normal operation of the website project.
