Tencent ECS optional image system
- Windows image: 64 bit Chinese version of Windows Server 2016 data center, 64 bit Chinese version of Windows Server 2012 R2 data center, 64 bit Chinese version of Windows Server 2019 data center, and corresponding English version of the above systems.
- Linux images: CentOS, TencentOS, CoreOS, Debian, SUSE, openSUSE, Ubuntu, etc.
Tencent ECS selects the operating system
From the multiple operating systems mentioned above, we choose the operating system according to different application environments and programs. Tencent Cloud supports different versions of operating system images, and different versions of operating systems target different environments. Lao Wei suggests that you choose different versions of operating images according to business needs and environments, and recommends using newer versions. Custom images should be selected according to the actual scene.
1. Select Windows system for asp program,. net, access database, MS sql database and remote desktop program. The specific version is Windows 2012.
2. PHP, jsp, MySQL database, etc. Choose Linux system. The specific version is CentOS 8.2 or the next new version.
Tencent cloud server image classification includes public image, custom image, shared image and image market.
- The public image is a legitimate, secure and stable version officially provided by Tencent Cloud;
- User defined images are created by users;
- The shared image is shared by other Tencent cloud users for your use;
- The image market is a third-party image that has been officially audited by Tencent Cloud.

32-bit operating system and 64 bit operating system
Lao Wei recommends using a 64 bit operating system for better performance. To use 32-bit, go to Console>Virtual Machine>ECS List>More>Reinstall the system and replace the operating system.
Can the operating system be replaced after the ECS purchase is successful?
After the purchase is successful, Tencent Cloud can change the operating system and different types of operating systems, and go to the ECS console to operate the replacement.
Note: Only servers in mainland China can replace different types of operating systems (Windows can be replaced with Linux, and vice versa). Servers outside mainland China cannot replace operating systems. Please choose carefully when purchasing.
