The election of the President of the 74 rd  session of the General Assembly will take place in the General Assembly Hall at the United Nations Headquarters, in New York, on  Tuesday, 4 June 2019 . In full respect of the established principle of geographical rotation and General Assembly resolution 33/138 of 19 December 1978, the President of the 74 th session of the General Assembly is to be elected from the African States.

In line with its  resolution 71/323, entitled “Revitalization of the work of the General Assembly ”, the Assembly decided to conduct informal interactive dialogues with candidates for the position of the President of the General Assembly, thus contributing to the transparency and inclusivity of the process. Furthermore, the General Assembly called upon candidates to present to the Assembly their vision statements.

In line with this new process, the President of the 73 rd session of the General Assembly will convene an informal interactive dialogue with the candidate nominated by the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, H.E. Mr. Tijjani Muhammad Bande, Permanent Representative of Nigeria to the United Nations, on Monday, 13 May 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at the UNHQ, New York.

Time permitting, the candidate will have the opportunity to respond to questions from other stakeholders. If you would like to submit a question to the candidate, you can do so in writing HERE . The deadline for submission of questions is Friday, 10 May, at 5:00 p.m.
