On the morning of May 17, at the construction site of the second bid section of the Awua Ahua Highway Project, one paver spread asphalt onto the pavement, and several road rollers rolled back and forth. The asphalt lower layer of a section of pavement was formed.
"The main line of bid section II is 43km long, and the asphalt lower layer in the direction of the uplink has been paved," said Lv Fengguo, project manager of bid section II.
The 163.14km long Awua Highway Project starts at the east side of the fork of the north outer ring road in Aksu City and ends at the east side of the Jialangqi New District in Akeqi County. It is constructed according to the standard of two-way four lane first-class highway, with a design speed of 100km per hour and a total investment of 4.994 billion yuan. The construction started last February.
"After the resumption of construction this year, the subgrade, bridge and culvert, pavement and other projects are progressing smoothly. At present, they have entered the asphalt paving stage. 80% of the asphalt lower layer has been paved on the new right side in Akesu region." said Akram Jiang Maimaiti, general manager of Xinjiang Awua Highway Development Co., Ltd.
The G219 line is an important highway connecting Wushi County and Ahqi County in Aksu City, with large traffic volume. "Especially in the tourist season along the road, there are many buses on the road. The builders should not only ensure the quality and quantity of construction, but also ensure the normal traffic of the original road vehicles, so there is a great pressure to ensure safety and connectivity," said Akram River.
At present, under the premise of ensuring construction safety, the project strives to grasp the effective construction period, speed up the construction progress of each project, and strive to achieve the opening of traffic next year. At that time, the driving time from Aksu City to Ahqi County is expected to be shortened by nearly one hour, which will also play an important role in improving the service capacity and transportation efficiency of the national road network in southern Xinjiang, and promoting the integrated development and interconnection of Aksu City, Wushi County and Ahqi County.
