Water and wastewater monitoring and analysis methods (fourth edition) pdf download
The Planning and Finance Department and the Science and Technology Standards Department of the State Environmental Protection Administration have assigned tasks to require the China Environmental Monitoring Station to organize relevant monitoring technicians nationwide to revise and republish the Monitoring and Analysis Methods for Water and Wastewater (the third version). After more than two years of efforts, the Water and Wastewater Monitoring and Analysis Methods (the fourth edition) was officially published, which is a supplement and improvement based on the third edition. It is a summary of national environmental monitoring scientific research, monitoring method research, monitoring method standardization and standardization results, and the crystallization of the hard work of the majority of monitoring technicians.
In order to meet the needs of environmental supervision and management and the newly issued environmental quality standards, pollution source emission standards and relevant regulations, many new monitoring items, new technologies and new methods have been added in the fourth edition, which has made great progress compared with the third edition. In this version, monitoring and analysis methods are divided into three categories, namely, Category A methods are national or industry standard methods (or equivalent to standard methods);Class B method is proved to be a mature and unified method after more in-depth research in China and verification in multiple laboratories;Class C methods have only been studied and applied by a few units in China, or the methods directly quoted from developed countries have not been verified by many laboratories in China, so they should be used as trial methods.Category A and B methods can be used in environmental monitoring and law enforcement;Class C methods are only for your reference.
It is a long-term task to develop China's advanced, standardized and standardized monitoring and analysis methods, which need the support of scientific research and the accumulation of practical experience of monitoring scientists and technicians.Compared with the developed countries, China's environmental monitoring technology level still has a considerable gap, and there is also a large distance from the need for the in-depth development of China's environmental protection work.We hope that environmental monitoring and the vast number of environmental monitoring scientific and technological personnel of relevant departments and units will put forward suggestions on the revision of this book in combination with their own work, so that it can be more perfect when it is republished next time.

Editor's words of the fourth edition
The water and wastewater monitoring and analysis method (the fourth edition) was published under the situation of more than ten years of experience in environmental scientific research and monitoring, updating of monitoring equipment, and continuous progress in monitoring technology. It was also completed by adding and revising on the basis of the original third edition.Compared with the third edition, the woodblock has the following characteristics:
1. Basic knowledge of water environmental chemistry has been added to help actual monitoring technicians better understand the purpose and significance of water quality monitoring and the judgment and evaluation of monitoring results.
2. New experience and new practices in scientific management, metrological certification, quality assurance and quality control of laboratories have been added.
3. In terms of monitoring inorganic pollutants, the analytical application of plasma emission spectrometry for more than 20 elements has been increased, the application of atomic fluorescence spectrometry in semi metal analysis has been increased, and the application range of ion chromatography technology has been expanded.
4. The automatic monitoring technology for surface water and wastewater and the total emission monitoring technology for some major pollutants have been added.
5. The analysis technology of toxic and harmful organic pollutants has been added in a large space, such as the analysis of VoCs and S-VOCs by GC-MS, and the analysis and application of chlorophenols, organochlorine pesticides, organophosphorus pesticides, PAHs, dioxins, and PCBs;PAIHs, anilines, phthalates, phenols, etc. were analyzed by HPLC;IC method was used to analyze AOX and TOX.The sample collection, pretreatment and purification are comprehensively introduced and explained, and the methods of blow off capture and headspace automatic sample injection are used to determine VOCs in the aspect of sample injection;Solid phase microextraction was used to separate and enrich S-VOCs.
6. In terms of biological monitoring, the methods of primary productivity, acute biological toxicity determination and biological hazard determination and evaluation have been added.
Compared with the third edition, the projects and monitoring analysis methods related to the monitoring of pollutants have increased significantly. For example, the third edition involves 57 kinds of organic pollutants, while the fourth edition involves more than 300 kinds of organic pollutants, with rich content. This is a scientific summary of monitoring scientific research, monitoring method research and monitoring method standardization over the past decade, and is the crystallization of the hard work of national monitoring scientific researchers.
The methods listed in this book fall into three categories.Type A method is the national or industry standard method (or equivalent to the standard method);Class B method is a mature unified method after domestic research and experimental verification of many units;Class C method has only been studied and applied by a few units in China, or directly quoted from abroad, and is a method for monitoring researchers to try.At the same time, these methods are provided to the vast number of monitoring technicians throughout the country. We hope that you will continue to study, improve and perfect them in combination with your own work, and feed back your good methods and experience to China Environmental Monitoring Station, or publish them in relevant journals, so as to create good conditions for the next revision. We hope that through national efforts, we can promote Class B methods to Class A methods, and Class C methods to Class B methods, and more advanced monitoring and analysis methods can replace the backward methods. The compilation of this book was completed with the kind care and support of the leaders of the State Environmental Protection Administration, the careful organization and arrangement of the leaders of the China Environmental Monitoring Station, and the joint efforts of nearly 100 technical personnel who participated in the compilation.During the preparation process, we also received the concern and support of the leaders of monitoring stations at all levels, and the Editorial Committee would like to express its sincere thanks to them.
Due to the limitation of conditions and practical experience, there is still a lack of sufficient research and experimental verification on some new projects, new technologies and new methods. Also due to the limitation of the level of the editorial board, this book still has many shortcomings, even errors. We sincerely invite readers to criticize and correct it.
