Former CCTV volleyball commentator died unexpectedly in Thailand

Tian Zongqi, the former volleyball commentator of CCTV Sports Channel, who was very famous in volleyball circles, died in Bangkok recently, according to Thailand's Xingsiam Daily.

It is understood that the location of the incident was an 8-storey apartment, and the body of the deceased was found on the ground behind the apartment. The deceased was Tian Zongqi, a 42 year old Chinese. The body was found wearing black short sleeves and gray shorts, with scars on the face, damaged head and deformed right leg.

The report also said that the deceased stayed in the hotel alone and fell from the 6th floor of the apartment and hit the partition outside the building. The falling place is the place where the hotel places flower pots and pipes. At present, the case is still under further investigation.

On May 22, "Tian Zongqi's funeral team" issued an obituary, confirming the news of Tian Zongqi's death.

The obituary revealed the details of Tian Zongqi's death. He died unexpectedly on May 9 this year in Bangkok, Thailand, aged 41. In the past two weeks, friends have handled the future affairs in a low profile according to Tian Zongqi's parents' wishes.

At 9:09 this morning, Zhu Ting, a member of the Chinese women's volleyball team, also sent a message to mourn Tian Zongqi.

According to the information published by CCTV website in the early years, Tian Zongqi was born on September 22, 1982. He graduated from the School of Journalism and Communication of Wuhan University with an undergraduate degree. In 2005, he joined CCTV and explained many wonderful events of volleyball, snooker, diving, tennis, curling and extreme sports.

The funeral team spoke highly of Tian Zongqi's business ability in the obituary, saying that he won the recognition of the industry and the love of the audience with his professional quality, unique perspective and sincere feelings, leaving many classic moments.

Tian Zongqi has been working as a volleyball commentator on CCTV for many years, and is affectionately called "Oda" by fans.

In the 2015 Women's Volleyball World Cup, the Chinese Women's Volleyball Team won the championship. He shouted: "The Chinese Women's Volleyball Team returns to the top of the world! Eleven years!" This is one of the most memorable moments left to women's volleyball fans by that game.

In 2016, Tian Zongqi left CCTV to join the film industry. After studying directing in South Korea, he directed and filmed the first Tujia song and dance film "For whom" in 2020, which won many awards and was shortlisted in the Beijing International Film Festival.
