As the Gaza war continued, Karim Khan, the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), said on May 20 that he had applied to court judges for arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Garrant. Netanyahu responded angrily that day.

According to the Israeli Times on May 20, Netanyahu released a video speech. He said that the absurd and false arrest warrants issued by the Hague Prosecutor were not only directed against the Israeli Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense, but also against Israel as a whole. "This is against the soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces, who are fighting against the evil Hamas killers with the highest heroism."

Netanyahu also asked: "Why do you have the audacity to compare the Hamas monster with the soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces, the most moral army in the world? How dare you compare Hamas, which murdered, burned, massacred, raped and kidnapped our brothers and sisters, with the soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces who fought a just war with unparalleled morality?"

Netanyahu said that he rejected Karim Khan's comparison with disgust, and said that it was an example of "new anti Semitism", which had been transferred from the university campus to The Hague.

Netanyahu promised the Israeli public that the International Criminal Court could not prevent Israel from overthrowing Hamas and achieving a "comprehensive victory".

According to CNN and the Israel Times on the 20th, Karim Khan said that he had applied to the court judge for arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Garrant. The Israel Times said that this was an unprecedented and highly controversial move. Karim Khan accused Netanyahu and other people of committing war crimes. The crimes are "causing mass killing, causing hunger and being used as a means of war, including refusing humanitarian relief supplies and deliberately targeting civilians in the conflict".

Karim Khan said that he is also applying for arrest warrants for Hamas leader Shinwar and others, who will be charged with mass killing, murder, hostage taking, rape and other crimes.

Karim Khan sent the above application to the First Pre Trial Chamber of the International Criminal Court on the Situation in the State of Palestine. The Associated Press pointed out on the 20th that a pre-trial panel consisting of three judges will review the evidence and decide whether to advance the proceedings, which takes an average of two months. According to the Associated Press, since Israel is not a member of the International Criminal Court, Netanyahu and Garrant will not face the risk of being prosecuted immediately even if an arrest warrant is issued. But Karim Khan's statement has deepened Israel's isolation in the process of advancing the war, and the threat of arrest may make it difficult for Israeli leaders to leave the country for activities.
