The Israeli violent conflict has entered its eighth day, and the latest conflict between the two sides continues to escalate. On the 16th local time, Israel carried out an air raid on a main street in the Gaza Strip, killing 42 people, including 16 women and 10 children, the deadliest attack in the past week. At the same time, the United Nations Security Council held a meeting on the same day to discuss a solution to the Palestinian Israeli conflict.

Israeli air strikes kill 42 people

Several buildings were razed to the ground

The health department in Gaza said on the 16th that 42 people, including 16 women and 10 children, had been killed in an Israeli air strike on a main street in Gaza.

Reported that this was the deadliest attack since the outbreak of fierce conflict between the two sides. The Israeli army attacked a busy street full of residential buildings and businesses in the urban area, destroying two adjacent buildings and another building about 50 meters away. "This is a horrible moment that no one can describe," said a local resident who assisted in the rescue.

The Gaza Ministry of Health said that more than 50 people were injured in the air strikes. The rescue operation is still in progress.

It is reported that in recent days, the Israeli bombing of the Gaza Strip has killed 192 Palestinians, including 58 children and more than 30 women, and injured more than 1200 others.

In addition, the Israeli army destroyed the house of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar in an air raid on the southern town of Khan Younis on the 16th. However, it was reported that Sinwar was not at home during the air raid.

On the other hand, Ori Goldin, commander of the Israeli Defense Command, said that since the outbreak of this round of conflict, 10 Israelis have been killed, about 50 seriously injured and hundreds more injured.

The UN Security Council held an emergency meeting

The Israeli Prime Minister threatened to continue to attack

The continuing escalation of the Palestinian Israeli conflict has aroused serious concern of the international community. The United Nations Security Council met on the 16th to discuss a solution to the Palestinian Israeli conflict.

At the meeting, UN Secretary General Guterres said that the violent conflict between Israel and the armed elements in Gaza was "totally appalling", and he urged both sides to immediately cease fire.

"The latest round of violence will only make death, destruction and despair continue in a cycle, and push any hope of coexistence and peace farther and farther," Guterres said at the online meeting of the United Nations Security Council. "The war must stop. It must stop immediately."

However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a televised speech earlier that Israel's action against Hamas would not end immediately. "We are now taking the necessary action to restore calm and quiet to the citizens of Israel."

According to the Associated Press, this round of conflict is the largest conflict between Israel and armed groups in Gaza since 2014.
