Fu Jianzhi, a delegation of the Kuomintang's public opinion representatives, visited the mainland. Zhao Zenglian, Deputy Director of the General Administration of Customs, said when meeting the delegation in Beijing on the 28th that the General Administration of Customs would, on the basis of scientific assessment, legally and in accordance with regulations, approve the import of Taiwan's agricultural and fishery products such as wendan pomelo that meet the quarantine requirements of the mainland. This news has quite excited Taiwan's pomelo practitioners, who have expressed that it is good news and has a positive effect on Taiwan's agriculture and the improvement of cross-strait relations.

According to Xinhua News Agency, Zhao Zenglian, Deputy Director of the General Administration of Customs, said when meeting with the delegation of public opinion representatives of the Chinese Kuomintang led by Fu Jingji in Beijing on the 28th that he was willing to strengthen communication with the Chinese Kuomintang and Taiwan related parties on the resumption of the import of Taiwan's agricultural and fishery products such as Wendan pomelo into the mainland on the basis of adhering to the "1992 consensus" and opposing "Taiwan independence", We will promote Taiwanese businesses to strengthen source management and take practical rectification measures. The General Administration of Customs will, on the basis of scientific assessment, approve the import of Taiwan's agricultural and fishery products such as Mandarin pomelo that meet the quarantine requirements of the mainland in accordance with laws and regulations.

Fu Jiwen said that the two sides of the Taiwan Straits should be peaceful and integrated. He hoped that Taiwan's products, especially high-quality agricultural and fishery products, could be marketed to the mainland, so that mainland compatriots could share products with different characteristics in Taiwan's counties and cities.

In addition, Ta Kung Pao reporter Su Rongrong reported that the General Administration of Customs suspended the import of Taiwan's citrus fruits and other agricultural products with insect pests into the mainland two years ago. After the KMT public opinion delegation visited the mainland, the mainland announced on the 28th that it would approve the import of agricultural and fishery products that meet the quarantine requirements of the mainland, such as Taiwan Wendan pomelo. The industry in the island has praised.

Tainong: There is no substitute for the mainland market

The total planting area of Hualian Wendan pomelo is about 900 to 1000 hectares, with an average annual output of 16000 metric tons, accounting for 60% and 70% of Taiwan's total export to the mainland. Chen, a pomelo farmer surnamed Chen in Ruisui Township, Hualian County, Taiwan, said, "If we lose the mainland market, Taiwan's Wendan pomelo cannot be sold at all." In the past two years, the pomelo planted by him and his neighbors are facing unsalable sales. Some of the pomelos that were originally exported to the mainland have no way out, so they can only be sold on the island, and finally they can only be sold at a loss. Last year, the situation was even worse. Affected by the typhoon, the quality of Wendan pomelo was affected by the delayed harvest, and the order was abandoned by the wholesaler.

Chen said that he was hesitant to increase the cost or reduce the amount of planting, but he saw hope when Taitung returned to the mainland after improving the quality of cherimoya and other fruits last year. This time, he will cherish the opportunity, cherish the mainland market and ensure the quality of grapefruit.

Yan Tingda, a Tainan fruit exporter specializing in selling fruits on the mainland, said that he has been doing fruit export business for several years. Previously, 90% of containers were sold to the mainland every year. But these years, the Democratic Progressive Party authorities have made such cross-strait relations, which not only caused heavy losses to farmers, but also to exporters. In the past two years, his performance has decreased by more than 90%, and he can't even feed and clothe himself.

Yan Tingda believes that it is extremely difficult for the DPP authorities to find a market that can replace the mainland market to digest Taiwan's fruits in a short time. Now Taiwan's pummelo will return to the mainland market, which is really good news.
