Whether you want to change your YouTube name to get better recognition in video reviews or need to reconsider your YouTube channel's brand name, trying to solve this problem yourself will make you confused, frustrated and time-consuming. Fortunately, when you know the steps to follow, the process is relatively fast and simple.
Please note that your Google account name will always be the same as the associated YouTube account, and therefore your channel name. In other words, your Google account name is your YouTube channel name. If you have no problem, you can change your Google account name (and therefore your YouTube account and channel name) by following steps 1 to 3.
But, If you want to keep your Google account name when renaming the YouTube channel to a different one, you must move the channel to a channel named "Brand" account 。 If this is your preferred route, skip to steps 4 to 6.
Step 1: Access your YouTube settings
Web side operation: Go to YouTube. com and log in to your account. Click or click your user account icon in the upper right corner of the screen, and then click Settings from the drop-down menu.
APP side operation: open the app, log in to your account (if you have not already logged in), and then click our user account icon in the upper right corner of the screen.
Step 2: Access your first and last name edit fields
Web side operation: click on the Google link to modify your name.
APP operation: My channel is on the next tab, click the gear icon next to your name.
Step 3: Change your Google/YouTube name
Web side operation: In the new Google About Me tab opened, enter a new first name and/or last name in the given field. Click OK when you are finished.
APP side operation: click the pencil icon next to your name, and enter a new first name and/or last name in the given field. Click the check mark icon to save it in the upper right corner of the screen.
nothing more. This will not only change your Google account name, but also your YouTube name and channel name.
Step 4: If you only want to change the channel name, please create a brand account
This is the dilemma faced by many YouTube users: they want to keep their names in their personal Google accounts, but they want to name their YouTube channels as other content. This is where brand accounts can be used.
As long as your channels are directly related to your Google account, they will always have the same name. However, transferring your channel to your own brand account is the solution to the problem. You can use channels to easily switch between your main Google account and your brand account.
This cannot be done through the official YouTube application, so you must log in to YouTube through a web/mobile browser.
Only web side operations:
Log in to your account, and then click your user account icon>Settings
Click to view all my channels or create a new channel
Click to create a new channel
Enter the name of the new channel you want in the brand account field you have given, and then click Create. You will be redirected to the newly created channel page, and you will replace it with an existing channel in the following steps.
Step 5: Move your channel to the newly created brand account
To return to the original account, click the empty user account icon>Switch accounts and click your account (the one you want to rename).
Click your user account icon>Settings
Click the advanced link and it will appear under your name.
Click to move the channel to the brand account
Log in to your account again to verify.
Note: If you are qualified to change the channel URL, you will see the option channel settings for creating a custom URL under this page. To get a custom URL, the channel must have a history of at least 30 days, at least 100 subscribers, uploaded photos as channel icons, and uploaded channel pictures.
Step 6: Confirm the completion of the move
Click the blue button to select the desired account
Click on the newly created (and empty) channel
A message will be displayed indicating that the brand account already has a YouTube channel. If you move the channel to this channel, its content will be deleted. This is good because the newly created channel that just created it does not have any content.
Continue clicking Delete Channel Next is the mobile channel Move your original channel to this new brand account.
