Introduction to Scenic Spots

It is located on the Ethnic Road near the Cultural Palace of the First Worker in Hebei District. Liang Qichao was a man of the times in modern Chinese history and the initiator of the Reform Movement of 1898. After the failure of the Reform Movement, he went into exile abroad and came into contact with many western theories. After returning home, he founded the "Vulgar Newspaper" and so on, criticizing the shortcomings of the times and advocating democracy and science.

The former residence is an Italian style building, divided into two floors. The first floor is the living room, study, etc. The reception hall, living room, and reference room in the east half of the upstairs are dedicated to Liang Qichao, while the west half is the residence of his family members. In 1924, on the west side of his former residence, a gray two-story western-style building named "Ice Drinking Room" was built, designed by Italian architecture Baronio. Every summer and winter, college students often come here to attend lectures. Many important works of Liang Qichao in his later period were also written here.

Liang Qichao's former residence is located at No. 44 Minzu Road, Hebei District, Tianjin, and the ice room is located at No. 46 Hebei Road. These two houses were built by Liang Qichao in the early years of the Republic of China when he purchased the vacant land in Xima Road, the old Italian concession of Zhou Guoxian. Minzu Road Apartment is a two-story Italian brick and wood structure building, built in 1914. The main building is a cement exterior wall with flower decoration, a profiled red tile roof, and stone high steps, with a building area of 1121 square meters; The "Ice Drinking Room" in the study is a light gray two storey western-style building, built in 1924. The first floor is his study, and the second floor is his bedroom and reception. Liang Qichao completed his later works here. "Ice drinking room" is specially designed by Italian architect Baronio, with unique and elegant shape. With a building area of 949.50 square meters, Liang Qichao is a very influential figure in modern China and has written a lot of books all his life. In the early years of the Republic of China, he bought a piece of land at the West Road (now Minzu Road, Hebei District) of the Italian Concession in Tianjin, covering an area of about 4 acres. In 1914, he built a residence, and later built a study -- drinking ice room. The residence is a two-story western style building, with two buildings in front of and behind it. The whole building is divided into two parts. The east part is dedicated to Liang family, with small study, living room, living room, etc; The west half is family housing. The whole building covers an area of more than 1100 square meters. The main building is of brick and wood structure, covered with cement, molded with patterns, profiled red tile roof, stone high steps, double channel doors and windows. The whole building is very exquisite, with gardens, car rooms, and reception rooms. The ice drinking room is located at No. 46, Minzu Road, Hebei District, and connected with the residence (No. 44, Minzu Road). It was built in 1924 and is a light gray two storey small western-style building. There are three small arched halls on the front of the building. There are stone steps in front of the door, and there is a reservoir in the middle. A stone animal is carved in the pool, and water sprays from the mouth all the year round. In the middle of the first floor is the hall. Except for one miscellaneous room, the other five rooms around the hall are the study and library. The second floor is also a hall near the northwest corner, and there are several main bedrooms or reference rooms near the southeast corner. Liang lived here and wrote books in his later years.

Liang's drinking ice must be designed by Italian architect Baronio, and it is a patio with a closed canopy. The building has a unique shape. The central hall is actually the canopy of the courtyard, which is higher than the roof and inlaid with patterned glass. The building has 34 rooms, with a floor area of 949.5 square meters.
