Baishi Mountain World Geopark is located in Laiyuan County, Hebei Province, with an area of 60 square kilometers. It is characterized by marble peak forest in Baishi Mountain, supplemented by geological relics such as Shibaoxia granite waterfall group and Jumayuan structural spring group. Baishi Mountain has many dangerous peaks, steep cliffs and deep valleys, and grotesque rocks. Its marble structure peak forest is a new type of geological and geomorphological landscape. The lower part is a fleshy red granite base, and the middle and upper part are white marble, showing a "double-layer geological structure". Two sets of shear joints are developed in marble, which play a leading role in the formation and development of structural peak forest. At the same time, there are also important geological relics such as ancient earthquakes.
Baishi Mountain is densely vegetated with 12% forest coverage. There are such national second-class protected plants as Guijian Jinji. Vegetation is mostly vertically distributed. It is distributed in large red birch forests between 1500 and 2000 meters above sea level. The tree trunks are dark red, tall and slender, and the green trees cover the sky, such as bathing in red makeup, which is of great ornamental value. The first class national protected animal, the North China leopard, and a large number of goats, badgers, roe deer, golden pheasants, and mountain hares, haunt here.
The most spectacular scenery of Baishi Mountain is famous for its peak forest landform. The marble peak forest at its core is the only marble peak forest landform in China and a new type of peak forest landform in China. The essence of the scenic spot is composed of more than 100 relatively independent mountains with scattered heights. The main peak is 2096 meters above sea level, hundreds of meters higher than the surrounding mountains, and can be seen almost anywhere in Laiyuan. Baishi Mountain is a tall mountain with many strange peaks and huge ravines. The cliffs and cliffs are like knives and axes, with sharp edges and corners and few curves. It can be called the representative of strangeness and danger in the mountain landscape.
