IT Home On July 27, 1981, Bill Gates was fully authorized by a "Quick and Dirty Operating System" called Seattle Computer Systems, or QDOS for short. Later, this operating system was called MS-DOS.

Before this historic acquisition, IBM, the blue giant, sounded the voice of Microsoft, a small company in the past. IBM was choosing the right 16 bit OS for the upcoming PC products. Microsoft clearly believes that it is more sensible to acquire existing solutions than to develop systems by itself. At first, Microsoft obtained a non exclusive 86-DOS or QDOS license from Seattle Computer Systems. Shortly after that, Microsoft spent $50000 on July 27 to obtain the exclusive operation right of QDOS.

According to Gizmodo data, MS-DOS was pre installed in IBM PC within one month. Later, MS-DOS became a legendary early operating system. For decades, Microsoft and IBM have enjoyed a smooth life and shaped the PC technology world. Bill Gates (and founder Paul Allen and many other Microsoft people) has also become very rich.
