Difference between high-frequency electrolytic capacitor and ordinary electrolytic capacitor

High frequency electrolytic capacitor and ordinary electrolytic capacitor are two different types of capacitors. Ordinary electrolytic capacitors also store charge through ion migration in the electrolyte. However, due to the low conductivity of the electrolyte, the ion migration speed is slow, so the charging and discharging speed of ordinary electrolytic capacitors is relatively slow.

3. High frequency characteristic difference:

High frequency electrolytic capacitors have lower ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance) and ESL (Equivalent Series Inductance), which makes them have lower impedance and better frequency response at high frequencies. High frequency electrolytic capacitors can quickly respond to high-frequency signals and provide stable capacitance values.

Common electrolytic capacitors have high ESR and ESL due to the low conductivity of electrolyte, which makes them have large impedance at high frequency and poor frequency response. Ordinary electrolytic capacitors are suitable for low-frequency or DC circuits and have weak response to high-frequency signals.

4. Difference between capacitance value and voltage:

Ordinary electrolytic capacitors usually have large capacitance values and high voltage ratings. They are suitable for applications where large charges are stored and high voltages are withstood.

High frequency electrolytic capacitors usually have smaller capacitance values and lower voltage ratings. They are mainly used in high-frequency circuits, requiring fast charging and discharging and low impedance.
