[Car rental in Iran] Iran's first cargo ship will arrive in Europe

According to Iran's Financial Tribune on February 29, Mohammad Saeedi, general manager of the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Company, announced on Sunday that the first cargo ship full of chemical product containers will berth in Europe in the near future. He said that this would mark the end of the five-year European embargo against Iran.

Earlier this month, the Wall Street Journal quoted sources as saying that Iran's largest shipping company planned to open a fortnightly shipping business connecting Iran, India and Europe.

The last time an Iranian shipping company's ship docked in Europe was in 2010.

Saidi said that Iran recently negotiated with Germany and Italy to establish a United Shipping Company, which shows that Iran hopes to return to the European market.

He said that the company also hopes to open routes between the Persian Gulf and Latin America, and open routes from East Asia to Latin America in the future.

Last week, a container ship belonging to the company docked at South Korea's largest port city, Busan, which was the first time that Iran docked at a South Korean port since 2012.

Earlier, when Rouhani visited Paris in January, the Iranian shipping company signed an agreement with CMA CGM of France on sharing ships, routes and port calls between the two companies.
