Google Voice number recycling policy and anti recycling countermeasures

Many domestic friends already own Google Voice in the US, and they are also using Google Voice in the US normally.

However, Google Voice has its own account recycling mechanism. After all, American phone numbers are also scarce resources. In order to avoid waste, if they are not used for a long time, they will be recycled by Google and used by other users.

Previously, the recycling mechanism of Google Voice was very simple. As long as your American number received a text message, it could be recycled. This makes it easy to deal with Google's recycling mechanism. You only need to subscribe to some SMS promotional messages or weather messages, because they are free and sent regularly.

Recently, many users have reported that the recycling mechanism of Google Voice US numbers has changed. Simply receiving SMS messages can no longer prevent Google Voice numbers from being recycled.

In view of this, Google Voice has checked Google's official website and found that the anti recycling mechanism has really changed, as shown in the following figure:

Obviously, Google told us that Google Voice numbers will be recycled if they are not used for a long time, and judging whether Google Voice numbers are used does not include receiving text messages and answering phones.

So, how to prevent Google Voice numbers from being recycled by Google? Google has officially provided three methods, as follows:

  1. Use your Google number to make calls;
  2. Send SMS with your Google number;
  3. Log in using the Google Voice client on your phone or tablet.

Then, it is obvious to prevent Google Voice numbers from not being recycled, Use your Google Voice US number regularly , hehe~

Friendly reminder (updated in November 2021): The active use period of Google is now 3 months. All suggestions are to send several SMS messages every 1-2 months.
