Owner description
On the morning of January 24, Beijing time, Boeing said on Wednesday that its prototype flying car product was launched briefly during its first test flight. This is also an important step taken by the world's largest aircraft manufacturer to reform urban transportation and parcel distribution services. Boeing is competing with its old rival Airbus and many other companies to launch aircraft that can take off and land vertically. This project benefits from the leap of automation technology and people's anxiety about road congestion. Boeing's aircraft is about 9 meters long, equivalent to a combination of helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles and fixed wing aircraft. It flew a few feet off the ground at Manassas Airport in Virginia on Tuesday and landed slowly after a few minutes in the air. Boeing's project faces many safety problems and regulatory obstacles. Boeing is also working with start-ups SparkCognition and the Federal Aviation Administration to develop a traffic management system for 3D highways, as well as a regulatory framework that allows a large number of driverless vehicles to travel safely around buildings. Boeing acquired Aurora Flight Sciences last year to accelerate the development of unmanned aerial vehicles. The company is also cooperating with UberAIR service under Uber, and plans to provide "flying" service through smart phones around 2023.
