The fourth industrial revolution (i.e. Industry 4.0) has opened a new era of innovation and development, and its advanced applications need Linux
®
The flexibility of the operating system (OS) and the certainty of the real-time system control the hardware. The typical symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) implementation ensures the flexibility of the operating system, but it is not enough to develop deterministic real-time systems. Competitive products that implement asymmetric multiprocessing (AMP) generally adopt complex multi cluster architecture, which brings many design challenges.
PolarFire

SoC FPGA includes a CPU core complex, including a monitoring core and four application cores. The application kernel supports multiple AMP configurations and is suitable for different applications, such as real-time response, security and personal safety requirements. The AMP application on the PolarFire SoC FPGA can realize a high-performance, hard real-time system with a certain execution time; It also provides a simpler architecture than competitive products, providing an efficient and reliable platform for today's safety critical factory automation and industrial control applications.
